The most common reason a CBT can't go ahead is something as simple as the wrong boots or a forgotten licence. Use this checklist the night before.
Documents
- Your photocard driving licence, provisional or full. If you have a paper licence, bring your passport with it.
- Photos and photocopies aren't accepted. It has to be the original.
- If you're bringing your own bike, proof of insurance, road tax and MOT (if it needs one).
What to wear
- Boots that cover your ankles. Leather, lace-up motorcycle or work boots are ideal.
- Sturdy jeans without rips, or work trousers. Motorcycle trousers are even better.
- Warm layers and a waterproof if the forecast is poor. You'll be outside most of the day.
What you must bring
- CE-approved motorcycle gloves. If you don't have a pair, we can sell you some, subject to stock.
- Glasses or contact lenses if you need them to read a number plate at 20.5 metres.
What we provide
- An ECE-approved helmet and a CE-approved jacket. You're welcome to bring your own if they fit well and meet the standards.
- A training bike, manual or automatic, with fuel.
Not allowed
- Trainers
- Joggers or leggings
- Wellington boots
- Any shoe that leaves the ankle bare
If you turn up without a valid licence or the right kit, we can't train you and the course fee is lost. It's not about being strict. It's about keeping you safe if you drop the bike, which almost everyone does at some point while learning.
Useful extras
- Water and a packed lunch or money for food.
- A snood or neck warmer in cold weather.
- A phone charger.
